CBC Fremantle's dramatic rendition of the Roald Dahl classic, The Witches, has closed to rave reviews after a sold-old run at the weekend.
The production has been months in the making, with the first rehearsals taking place in Term 3 last year.
After months of dedication from students and staff alike, the excitement was palpable in the College's Arts Learning Area as the final technical rehearsal came to a close on Thursday.
By Saturday evening, the cast and crew were eager to get their first show under their belts, as Drama teacher Rosalba Jeffreys stepped in to save the day after a last-minute cast change.
As the lights came up for the opening show, the cast and crew expertly weaved the story of a girl and his grandfather battling to defeat the grand high witch and her followers, and all the antics that followed.
Those antics included costume changes, special effects, transformations into mice and no shortage of perfectly timed sound and light effects.
Seven gentlemen perfected their roles as witches after many joined Ms Jeffreys in facing the clippers and shaving their heads last week.
The group lost their locks in support of The World's Greatest Shave in honour of Ms Jeffrey's husband of 50 years, Robert, who lost his battle with Leukaemia on Christmas Eve in 2019.
"The support from the boys is such a boost," she said, before also shaving her own head as part of The World's Greatest Shave.
"They know my back story and they know how close this cause is to my heart, so their solidarity means the world."
Ms Jeffreys said the shave and the themes of the play match up perfectly.
"The message of The Witches is that it doesn't matter what you look like, as long as somebody loves you," she said.
"I feel so loved and appreciated by the students and my colleagues, and I'm sure they won't worry about my bald head."
The team has already raised more than $11,000. If you'd like to contribute, please click here.
