Lending a helping hand

As life begins to return to normal for most, a long and difficult winter faces those on the margins.

Winter is one of the most difficult times of year for those who at risk of, or who are, experiencing homelessness. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic leaving many out of work or battling higher-than-usual expenses, it's likely more people than ever will find themselves struggling in different ways over the months ahead.

At CBC Fremantle, the EREA Touchstone of justice and solidarity calls all of us to stand alongside those on the margins, and find tangible ways of supporting them whenever we can.

In answer of that call, we will be providing two opportunities to help make this winter a little bit more comfortable for the most vulnerable in our local community.

For both, please bring your donations to the College by Friday 15 May.

St Patrick's Community Support Centre

St Pat's is asking for help to find sleeping bags to add to hampers they distribute to their clients.

If you come across any sleeping bags while shopping, or have any at home that are in good condition, but that you aren't using, you can be sure they'll be going to a good cause.

St Vincent de Paul Society

Vinnies are experiencing increased demand at the moment, and need some extra help to make sure they can continue to support those who need it most.

If you're able to pick up any of the items on this list, it would go a long way to helping those facing a difficult time at the moment.

Our community has always been a fantastic supporter of both organisations, and I'm sure this time will be no different.

God bless,
