Ms Calanni's Apple Turnovers

Makes four turnovers.


  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup canned pie apple
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 egg


  1. Preheat oven to 200 ° fan forced.
  2. Cut puff pastry into four squares per sheet.
  3. Combine apple, maple syrup and sugar in a bowl.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture over each pastry square, leaving a small border.
  5. Fold pastry over filling, then use a fork to seal the edges.
  6. Place turnovers on trays, then brush with egg and milk wash.
  7. Sprinkle turnovers with remaining sugar.
  8. Bake turnovers for 10 minutes, then turn trays for another 10 minutes or until puffed and golden.
